VANCOUVER — It was during Sunday night's pre-game warmup when Jannik Hansen noticed a guy sitting in the penalty box who sure didn't look like your typical NHL official. Hansen, a big fan of the Family Jewels TV show, realized it was none other than aging rocker Gene Simmons. So the Canucks winger skated over the penalty box, opened the door and asked Simmons to sign his stick.
"It not every day you get a chance to meet a guy like that," Hansen said Monday. "He was happy to do it."
Asked if he is a KISS fan, Hansen said: "Obviously they are a little older than I am. But I am definitely a Gene Simmons fan."
It should be noted that the Canucks are 0-2 with Simmons in the house.
Simmons and his wife Shannon Tweed also attended the Canucks' New Year's Eve game in Los Angeles, which they lost 4-1.
